Upcoming at the Studio

April

  • This is a BYO materials kind of deal but it is very low key, the idea is to create the space to explore not make a masterpiece. This is the perfect outlet for someone looking to try something new or dust of long forgotten art supplies. There will be coffee, music, and friends old and new. We may have meditation openers or special treats - who knows! Dates and sign ups here

  • Friday 11:30-12:30p

Join us for a jaunt through Chicago's largest and most prestigious art fair, ExpoChicago!

In reviewing exhibitors, Maggie has already found some exciting artists whose works I have been eager to see in person. We will take a spin Thursday night to ensure easy maneuvering for the group on Friday. We will email more specific instructions for meeting up as the day nears as well as send venmo requests for tickets as if we get a certain number of sign ups we will be able to purchase at group rates.

Can't wait to see you there! Register here

  • Thurs 7:00 - 9p

The Chicago art community is celebrated not only for its excellence but for its welcoming and collaborative nature. There is an openness and friendliness within the Chicago Arts and Lillstreet Art Center is the very embodiment of this ethos. Lillstreet started in Lincoln Park 50 years ago and has evolved into the thriving and dynamic art community it is today. Join us for a viewing of the new documentary, Dream A Lill - produced by Good Chaos in partnership with the Lillstreet team. Following the viewing we will have a lively discussion around art and community with Lillstreet’s Director of Ceramics Programming, Kirin Kane, and showcase the work of one of their artists in residence. The night will culminate in a collaborative project that will be exhibited at Pallas Studio for the following weeks.

We will serve drinks and a creative take on movie concessions. The event is free to attend but space is limited so please let us know if your plans change! Tickets here

  • If you have never been to a storytelling evening, this is your sign to go to one. They have the magical ability to transport you into an alternate headspace as you let yourself be read to. Join for an evening of storytelling and conversation with 7 female writers as they share true stories themed around Trust and Hope. This theme will be held lightly as it serves as a jumping off point for the creative process.

The writers will perform their 5 minute stories and then we will have a panel of Q&A at the end to discuss any takeaways or writing questions. There will be drinks and light bites - cannot wait to see you there. Tickets here

  • Saturday 10-11:30am

Sometimes you meet people that are just incredible with kids. Jackie Thiebert is one of these people. She is beloved by all of my children and every other kid I know that is lucky enough to hang with her. Studying for her degree in art therapy and an active yogi, Jackie has also written a book about emotions and yoga for kids. Last fall she and I were talking about how it is important to have open ended spaces for kids as they grow up - ones that are centered around expression and embodiment to balance out their structured little lives. I am so thrilled that Jackie has agreed to do a three part yoga/art workshop for kids 1st grade and up at Pallas. There are only a few spots left in the upcoming series - respond to this email if you are interested. Dates are: Saturday 2/28 10-11:30a, Friday 3/6 3:30-5p, Saturday 3/28 10-11:30a. Cost for the series is $150 but individual class rates are available as well. Email me for availability meryl@pallasstudio.com
